About MAUS
“In my work, I explore human vulnerability and the tension between intimacy and distance. I focus on moments in which care, fear, and connection intersect, often in situations where protection becomes necessary and physical closeness is no longer self-evident. The human figure consistently serves as my point of departure. I work exclusively in black and white using charcoal. This medium demands simplicity and leaves no room for distraction, allowing full attention to be given to form, light, and emotion. By removing context and color, I aim to create images that are not tied to a specific time or place. My work invites the viewer to slow down, reflect, and find space for their own experiences and meanings within the image.”
